In its rather significant history, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art has mounted many large exhibitions. None have been as massive as this year’s highlight, ‘Celebrating Modern Art: The Anderson Collection’. Encompassing three floors of the massive musuem, the show features some 330 paintings, sculptures and works on paper by nearly 140 artists international renown. The pieces are culled from the impressive private collection of Mr and Mrs Harry W Anderson, which has been hailed as ‘among the greatest private collections in the United States’.
